Watersong Productions is proud to announce a new project currently in pre-production, What’s in the Heart Can’t Be Taken, a documentary film exploring the ways in which Native Americans continue their historical traditions of living in health, harmony and hope in the face of the tremendous challenges that have plagued them since the first Europeans arrived 500 years ago and began dramatically altering their way of life, thus placing them in the lowest realms of behavioral and physical health in the country. Developed and produced by Kitty Farmer and Watersong Productions, the film will be directed by award-winning filmmaker, Jilann Spitzmiller, (Homeland, Circle of Stories, Shakespeare Behind Bars), and most recently, two parts (Carlos and Hector) for the acclaimed PBS–P.O.V. series, Critical Condition.

Kitty Farmer has twenty-five years of experience in the management of careers and projects that embrace integrity, creativity and service. She has been highly instrumental in gaining successful careers for her author clients, all of whom embrace a spiritually holistic worldview in their practice of medicine. Her current involvement is with the healthcare and cultural rights of American Indians and as producer of the upcoming film, What's In the Heart Can't Be Taken.

We are also thrilled to have the committment of Academy Award, Emmy and IDA-winning cinematographer, Shana Hagan. Shana Hagan and Jilann Spitzmiller have worked on numerous films together, several of which involve Native American and health disparity issues that have aired on PBS, the Sundance Channel and theatrically. Besides Ms. Spitzmiller, Ms. Hagan has worked with such distinguished filmmakers as Michael Apted, Kirby Dick and Jessica Yu.
